Heroes of the Storm: Experience balls

Although work on Blizzard's online team fighting game Heroes of the Storm is slowing down, a lot has happened over the past few months. The next feature will make the Rated Seasons more exciting. Read the blog of the developers here.
Following the example of Diablo 3, Blizzard's online team combat game Heroes of the Storm introduces a new feature for the seasoned seasons. So-called experience Orbs, the first first seasonal nexus anomaly, are a fundamental change to a core aspect of the game. Such major changes the team would like to test with the Nexus anomalies that are currently being released with each new season valued. Says Senior Game Designer Alex Neyman:
"We're constantly trying to improve or evolve the game, and Nexus anomalies allow us to test game mechanics that are a bit risky."
These experimental game mechanics usually last only for the season in which they were introduced. If a Nexus anomaly works really well and the players like it, the team may permanently integrate it into the game. Neyman thinks this will be the case with the experience balls. The test runs have been very satisfactory so far.
